HomeTown Aurora – Not the Average New Communi...

HomeTown Aurora is the type of development that takes new visitors by surprise. It looks like a quaint Midwestern town, but at the same time, it's obvious that homes include the latest design features. Prices, which begin in the $160,000s, are a nice surprise also.
Bigelow Homes deliberately patterned the community after the warm, inviting neighborhoods that most people dream of living in. The developer included classic small town features such as large, inviting front porches; white picket fences; big bay windows; six-foot wide sidewalks that accommodate side-by-side strollers; living courts; private cul-de-sacs; and streets designed to keep traffic under 15 mph.
One of the most attractive features is the Town Center, which is within walking distance of all the homes. It includes the HomeTown Café, a post office, and plans for a full complement of stores and offices. In addition, there is an elementary school as well as a daycare center.
The idea was to encourage close neighborly relationships and it's working. Thanks in part to the community life director, residents gather to plan activities like Fourth of July festivities and Easter egg hunts.
The development received one of the state's most prestigious landscaping awards for two spectacular parks.
Town Center Park features a brightly colored playground, a stately white-pillared gazebo with elegant steps, an interactive fountain, a small amphitheater, and open festival area.
Ravine Park includes a boulder-edged stream and cascading waterfalls that pour into a tranquil pond stocked with exotic fish. Visitors can walk long the path, or relax on one of the comfortable benches. Others can enjoy the view from their own front porches.
HomeTown Aurora was largely responsible for CEO Perry Bigelow being named Professional Builder magazine's 2005 National Builder of the Year.
There are 10 other beautiful neighborhood parks in the development.
With prices that range from the $160,000s to the $250,000s, diverse single-family home designs appeal to singles, dual-income couples, empty nesters, and seniors. The 2-5 bedroom, 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 bath homes with 1,168 to 2,437 square feet all have attached garages. They are smartly planned inside and out and feature front porches, large eat-in kitchens, high-quality oak kitchen cabinets and laminate countertops, built-in kitchen pantries, General Electric kitchen appliances, king-sized bathroom mirrors and cultured marble vanities, and luxury carpets with 10-year stain resistant warranties. The homes are so energy-efficient that Bigelow will actually guarantee heating costs; they are one of only a few builders in the country who do so.
There are 13 floor plans to choose from.
Loft homes surround the Town Center. Starting in the low $200,000s, these 2-3 bedroom, 2-3 bath homes with 1,335 to 1,995 square feet have an urban flair and features found in much higher-priced homes such as finished concrete floors, gourmet kitchens with granite island countertops, upgraded appliances, 10-foot ceilings, 3-sided gas fireplaces, exposed ductwork, curved walls, and other clever architectural features.
Furnished home models are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, and Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. Furnished models of the Lofts are open Mon., Tues., Thurs., Sat., and Sun. from 10 a.m. to 6p.m., and Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. Loft models are closed on Wednesdays. No appointment is necessary.
Directions to HomeTown Aurora are simple. Take Route 59 to Ogden Avenue, west to Montgomery Road, then north one mile.
