Over the years Bigelow Homes has moved from just being concerned about saving energy in homes (our famous 3 year - $400 per year heating guarantee), to total home comfort, to preservation of the natural environment, to broader green building practices, to natural resourc land development practices, to environmental sustainability and finally cultural and social sustainability.

Bigelow Homes is one of only two builders in the Chicagoland area to have been named Builder of The Year two times (1982 and 1990). Bigelow Homes has received the Chicago Sun-Times Best Energy Builder of the Year Award and Best Energy Home of the Year Award every year it has been granted. Bigelow Homes is the only builder in the country to have been featured in two full-length episodes of This Old House (1982 and 1989), that documented our enery efficient and passive solar building techniques
